As previously stated, the Most High G’d is going to uproot and physically bring all of the descendants of Israel from the lands where He has scattered them.
- “As I live,” declares the Lord God, “with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm and with wrath poured out, I assuredly shall be king over you. I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you from the lands where you are scattered, with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm and with wrath poured out;
Ezekiel 20:33-34 NASB
With the ultimate destination being…
THE LAND OF MILK & HONEY
- The Lord your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will be good to you and make you more numerous than your fathers.
Deuteronomy 30:5 NASB
NO ONE WILL BE LEFT BEHIND
All the descendants from the 12 tribes of Israel and anyone that claims to know the G’d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will start in this future gathering.
- Then they will know that I am the Lord their God, for though I sent them into exile among the nations, I will gather them to their own land, not leaving any behind.
Ezekiel 39:28 NIV
TESTING
After the initial uprooting, those gathered will enter into a wilderness period, where G’d will begin judging them in a series of tests, just as He tested the children of Israel after they left Egypt.
- And I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will enter into judgment with you face to face. Just as I entered into judgment with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will enter into judgment with you,” declares the Lord God.
Ezekiel 20:35-36 NASB
PURGES
Those that failed the tests in the first exodus were purged. Likewise, those that fail the tests during the Greater Second Exodus will also be purged. An example of one of these purges is provided to us from the prophet Ezekiel.
- “I will make you pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant; and I will purge from you the rebels and those who revolt against Me; I will bring them out of the land where they reside, but they will not enter the land of Israel. So you will know that I am the Lord.
Ezekiel 20: 37-38 NASB
ONLY A REMNANT WILL RETURN
There will be, at the completion of all the testing and purges, only a “Remnant” of the twelve tribes that will return and physically survive to the end.
- For though your people, O Israel, may be like the sand of the sea, Only a remnant within them will return; A destruction is determined, overflowing with righteousness.
Isaiah 10:22 NASB
WORTHY TO ESCAPE / STAND BEFORE THE SON OF MAN
Notice that Yeshua instructs us to pray that we are counted “worthy” to escape the things that are about to happen on the earth (this is not referring to a rapture) and ultimately “standing” with the Son of Man.
- Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
Luke 21:36 NKJV
144,000 STANDING WITH THE SON OF MAN
The only ones identified in the scriptures to be found “standing” with the Son of Man on Mount Zion in Jerusalem will be the 144,000.
- And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the Mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.
Revelation 14:1 KJV
SPOILER ALERT: The ultimate destination will be the Old City of Jerusalem which is the place of refuge for those that pass the first two tests and purges. More details concerning the tests and purges are addressed in a later article.
REDEEMED FROM THE EARTH
Ultimately, the 144,000 are the only men identified in the scriptures to be redeemed from the earth.
- Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having His Father’s name written on their foreheads. 2 And I heard a voice from heaven, like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of loud thunder. And I heard the sound of harpists playing their harps. 3 They sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth.
Revelation 14:1-3 NKJV
FIRST FRUITS REDEEMED FROM AMONG MEN
- These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb.
Revelation 14:4 NKJV
This doesn’t mean that men will be the only ones alive at the coming of G’d and the Son of Man. Isaiah chapter 4 describes…
ISAIAH 4: 1
SEVEN WOMEN WILL TAKE HOLD OF ONE MAN
According to Isaiah, there will be the count of seven women for every one of the 144,000 men.
- For seven women will take hold of one man in that day, saying, “We will eat our own bread and wear our own clothes, only let us be called by your name; take away our reproach!”
Isaiah 4:1 NASB
So, those that will be in the Greater Second Exodus will be comprised of the 144,000 men and 1,008,000 women, for a total of 1,152,000 that will be in the Old City of Jerusalem for the 1260 days of the Great Tribulation.
ISAIAH 4: 2
THE SURVIVORS IN ISRAEL
- In that day the Branch of the Lord will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of the survivors in Israel.
Isaiah 4:2 NKJV
ISAIAH 4: 3-4
Verses 3-4 provide three vital pieces of information concerning the Remnant.
1) THOSES THAT ARE LEFT IN ZION
These two verses provide us with a second witness, that survivors will be recorded among the living within the Old City of Jerusalem.
- And it shall come to pass that he who is left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem will be called holy—everyone who is recorded among the living in Jerusalem. When the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and purged the blood of Jerusalem from her midst, by the spirit of judgment and by the spirit of burning,
Isaiah 4:3-4 NKJV
The second detail is that these two verses establish that the female survivors in Jerusalem are identified as:
2) THE DAUGHTERS OF ZION
- And it shall come to pass that he who is left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem will be called holy—everyone who is recorded among the living in Jerusalem. When the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and purged the blood of Jerusalem from her midst, by the spirit of judgment and by the spirit of burning,
Isaiah 4:3-4 NKJV
3) PURGED THE BLOOD OF JERUSALEM
The third detail is that the testing, cumulating with a purge, will continue even while in the Old City of Jerusalem.
ISAIAH 4: 5
PILLAR OF FIRE AND SMOKE
- Then the Lord will create above every dwelling place of Mount Zion, and above her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day and the shining of a flaming fire by night. For over all the glory there will be a covering.
Isaiah 4:5 NKJV
PILLAR OF FIRE AND SMOKE DURING THE FIRST EXODUS
From this, we can determine that G’d is going to use a pillar of fire and column of smoke to protect the Remnant while they are in the Old City, just as G’d used a pillar of fire and a column of smoke to protect the children of Israel in the first Exodus.
ISAIAH 4: 6
Again we see a single passage (verse 6) providing us with three vital pieces of information concerning the Remnant.
1) A TABERNACLE FROM THE HEAT
- And there will be a tabernacle for shade in the daytime from the heat, for a place of refuge, and for a shelter from storm and rain.
Isaiah 4:6 NKJV
According to the prophet Malachi, the heat will come from the sun which will be “burning like a furnace and will consume the perpetrators of wickedness.”
- For lo, the sun comes, glowing like a furnace, and all the audacious sinners and all the perpetrators of wickedness will be stubble. And the sun that comes shall burn them up so that it will leave them neither root nor branch, says the Lord of Hosts.
Malachi 3:19 CJB
To protect the Remnant, G’d will provide a tabernacle from this burning heat, further establishing the Old City as the place of refuge for the Remnant.
2) A PLACE OF REFUGE
- And there will be a tabernacle for shade in the daytime from the heat, for a place of refuge, and for a shelter from storm and rain.
Isaiah 4:6 NKJV
3) A SHELTER FROM STORM AND RAIN
- And there will be a tabernacle for shade in the daytime from the heat, for a place of refuge, and for a shelter from storm and rain.
Isaiah 4:6 NKJV
So what is the “rain that Isaiah is talking about? According to the Psamist, the Remnant will also be protected from the “rain” of …
FIRE AND BRIMSTONE
- Upon the wicked He will rain coals; Fire and brimstone and a burning wind shall be the portion of their cup.
Psalms 11:6 NKJV
… which will be poured out upon “the wicked,” just as it “rained” upon Sodom and Gomorrah,
- Then the Lord rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah, from the Lord out of the heavens.
Genesis 19:24 NKJV
IN REVIEW
Previously we found, that the Most High G’d is going to uproot and physically bring all of the descendants of Israel from the lands where He has scattered them.
- “As I live,” declares the Lord God, “with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm and with wrath poured out, I assuredly shall be king over you. I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you from the lands where you are scattered, with a mighty hand and with an outstretched arm and with wrath poured out;
Ezekiel 20:33-34 NASB
TESTS
We determined that those gathered will enter into a wilderness period, where G’d will begin judging them in a series of tests, just as He tested the children of Israel after they left Egypt.
PURGES
We also found that those which fail the tests during the Greater Second Exodus will also be purged. An example of one of these future purges is provided to us from the prophet Ezekiel.
REDEEMED FROM THE EARTH
And with so many people being purged for failing the test, we established that the 144,000 will be the only men worthy to be redeemed from the earth.
SEVEN WOMEN WILL TAKE HOLD OF ONE MAN
We further found that the there will be a seven women for every one of the 144,000 men.
- For seven women will take hold of one man in that day, saying, “We will eat our own bread and wear our own clothes, only let us be called by your name; take away our reproach!”
Isaiah 4:1 NASB
We then concluded that the 144,000 men, the Daughters of Zion and an undisclosed number of children will be the Remnant of Israel.
