6 – WHAT IS THE CONFIRMATION OF A COVENANT – D

Previously, we found that seven years of allotted prophetic time (often referred to as the 70th Week of Daniel) is yet unfulfilled.

We determined that the Most High has prepared the Old City of Jerusalem as the Place of Refuge so that “the Remnant would be protected from “judgment” plagues (and other apocalyptic events) and be alive to greet the Yeshua at His return.

We further found that the Final Seven Year Countdown begins when the Abomination of Desolation confirms “a covenant”…

  • HE will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ HE will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple HE will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.”

Daniel 9:27 NIV

…which involves the construction of the yet-to-be-built third Temple and a restart of the animal sacrifices.

Secondary Sign

We established that when this “covenant” is confirmed, “the Remnant” will have a 3 1/2 year window to get to the Old City of Jerusalem in order to physically escape the Great Tribulation and the apocalyptic plagues.

3 1/2 YEARS TILL THE GREAT TRIBULATION

In this article, we will be introducing different scenarios in order to help you identify the “confirmation of a covenant” when it happens.

Presently, the most commonly accepted explanation for the “covenant” is that it will be a peace agreement between Israel and many countries.  The word “confirmation” suggests that the Abomination of Desolation is going to give his approval to a pre-existing covenant or treaty.

Take for example the Abrahamic Accord which was created and executed under the Trump administration. It is a real possibility that this accord just might be the covenant that we are anticipating.

The problem is that at this time, no one clearly meets the description of the Abomination of Desolation, nor is there any immediate forward progress toward the start of the Third Temple construction. This shortcoming, however, doesn’t completely take the Abrahamic Accord off the table for being the “covenant” being described by Daniel.

Circumstances in the world theatre could change (like war) where a large influx of nations find themselves joining the Abrahamic Accord. However, if this were the correct circumstances, then it would be at that point that you would see a “Trump” type personality, (maybe even Trump himself) “confirming” the already existing accord.  However likely this scenario may seem, there is at least one other possible explanation for the “confirmation of the covenant.”

RECONFIRMATION OF THE SINAI COVENANT

Another possibility for this “confirmation of a covenant” could be the reconfirmation of the “covenant” which was initially made by the children of Israel when they were at Mount Sinai.

  • So Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord and all the judgments. And all the people answered with one voice and said, “All the words which the Lord has said we will do.” And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord. And he rose early in the morning, and built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve  pillars according to the twelve tribes of Israel. Then he sent young men of the children of Israel, who offered  burnt offerings and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen to the Lord. And Moses took half the blood and put it in basins, and half the blood he sprinkled on the altar. Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read in the hearing of the people. And they said, “All that the Lord has said we will do, and be obedient.” And Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, “This is the blood of the covenant which the Lord has made with you according to all these words.”

Exodus 24:3-8 NKJV

We have an example of the reconfirmation of the Sinai “covenant” at the time our Jewish Brothers returned to Jerusalem from their exile in Babylon/Persia.  The reconfirmation of the “covenant” was one of four parts in a dedication process which was celebrated at the completion of the fortress walls of the Old City of Jerusalem in 587 BCE.

1. READING OF THE LAW

The dedication began, on the first day of the 7th month, with Ezra bringing the Law before the assembly.

  • Now all the people gathered together as one man in the open square that was in front of the Water Gate; and they told Ezra the  scribe to bring the Book of the Law of Moses, which the Lord had commanded Israel. So Ezra the priest brought the Law before the assembly of men and women and all who could hear with understanding on the first day of the seventh month. Then he read from it in the open square that was in front of the Water Gate from morning until midday, before the men and women and those who could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive to the Book of the Law.

Nehemiah 8:1-3 NKJV

2.  TABERNACLES

The assembly then, on the second day of the 7th month, assembled and lived in tabernacles.

  • 13 Now on the second day the heads of the fathers’ houses of all the people, with the priests and Levites, were gathered to Ezra the scribe, in order to understand the words of the Law. 14 And they found written in the Law, which the Lord had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths during the feast of the seventh month, 15 and that they should announce and proclaim in all their cities and in Jerusalem, saying, “Go out to the mountain, and bring olive branches, branches of oil trees, myrtle branches, palm branches, and branches of leafy trees, to make booths, as it is written.”16 Then the people went out and brought them and made themselves booths, each one on the roof of his house, or in their courtyards or the courts of the house of God, and in the open square of the Water Gate and in the open square of the Gate of Ephraim.  17 So the whole assembly of those who had returned from the captivity made booths and sat under the booths; for since the days of Joshua the son of Nun until that day the children of Israel had not done so. And there was very great gladness.

Nehemiah 8:13-17 NKJV

3.  CONFESSION OF SINS

With the completion of Succoth, the assembly then confessed their sins.

  • Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the children of Israel were assembled with fasting, in sackcloth, and with dust on their heads.  Then those of Israelite lineage separated themselves from all foreigners; and they stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers. And they stood up in their place and read from the Book of the Law of the Lord  their God for one-fourth of the day; and for another fourth they confessed and worshiped the Lord  their God.

Nehemiah 9:1-3 NKJV

4.  RECONFIRMING THE SINAI COVENANT

The reconfirmation of the Sinai “covenant” was the final phase of this dedication process.

  • 28 Now the rest of the people—the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the Nethinim, and all those who had separated themselves from the peoples of the lands to the Law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, everyone who had knowledge and understanding— 29 these joined with their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse and an oath to walk in God’s Law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and His ordinances and His statutes:

Nehemiah 10:28-29 NKJV

This reconfirmation of the Sinai “covenant” may or may not be the “confirmation of a covenant“ which we are anticipating.  However, when the third Temple does get built, in all probability there will be a formal dedication involved.  It is my firmest belief that the reconfirmation of the Sinai “covenant” will be an integral part of this future dedication as described in Nehemiah.
