The Feast of Tabernacles

Previously, we found that the Old Testament prophets predicted that a “Remnant of Israel” will gather back to the land of Israel in an Exodus which will have a similar outcome to the Exodus from Egypt.

We also determined that Elohim has prepared the Old City of Jerusalem as the Place of Refuge where  “the Remnant” will assemble so they will be alive to greet the Son of Man at His return.

This assembling of “the Remnant” is the Greater Second Exodus.

We further found that “the Remnant of Israel” and those that are going to be in the first resurrection, will be priest and will rule over the nations (with the Son of Man) during His Millennial Reign.

Blessed and holy is he that is in the first resurrection: on such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of Elohim and of the Son of Man and shall reign with him a thousand years. (Revelation 20:6 KJVm)

And, according to the prophet Zachariah, these nations that are going to ruled will be required to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.

And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. (Zechariah 14:16 KJV)

Examining the Feast of Tabernacles, in preparation for the Greater Second Exodus, will be the focus of this article.

Originally, the Feast of Tabernacles was one of three mandatory pilgrimage festivals, which required the participation of all Israeli born males to migrate to Jerusalem…

“Three times in a year all your males shall appear before יהוה your Adonay in the place which He chooses, at the Feast of Unleavened Bread and at the Feast of Weeks and at the Feast of Booths, and they shall not appear before יהוה empty-handed. (Deuteronomy 16:16 KJVm)

… in order to inhabit tabernacles for seven days…

You shall live in booths for seven days; all the native-born in Israel shall live in booths, (Leviticus 23:42 NASB)

…as a reminder that “the Children of Israel” dwelled in tents for 40 years while in the wilderness following their Exodus from Egypt.

You shall live in booths for seven days; all the native-born in Israel shall live in booths, so that your generations may know that I had the sons of Israel live in booths when I brought them out from the land of Egypt. I am יהוה your Elohim.’” (Leviticus 23:42-43 KJVm)

But with the destruction of the Second Temple by the Romans in 70 A.D. the pilgrimages were discontinued.  The festivals continued to be celebrated by the Jews, but has since morphed into a synagogue-based worship service which has only served to cloud the intent of this feast.

Notice that Apostle Paul adds clarity to the intent of the feast by stating that the events which happened to “the Children of Israel” while in the wilderness where meant to be as an example and were specifically documented as instructions for “the Remnant” that would be alive at the end of the age.

For we must never forget, dear brothers, what happened to our people in the wilderness long ago…  …All these things happened to them as examples — as object lessons to us—to warn us against doing the same things; they were written down so that we could read about them and learn from them in these last days as the world nears its end. (1 Corinthians 10:1,11 TLB)

Which brings us back to the Feast of Tabernacles that will be celebrated during the Millennium. A closer examination reveals that Sukkot is the only feast that is mentioned during the Millennial Reign.  Have you ever wondered why no other feast are discussed?

The reason that these other feast aren’t mentioned is because following the Greater Second Exodus, all references to the Exodus from Egypt will no longer be mentioned.

WHEN IT IS NO LONGER SAID

Therefore, the day will come, says יהוה, when it is no longer said, “יהוה lives who brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt.” Rather, it will be said, ”יהוה lives, that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither he had driven them: and I will bring them again to their land that I gave unto their fathers.” (Jeremiah 16:14 – 15 KJVm)

This includes any references to the feast (such as Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles) which are celebrated to remind us of the first Exodus.

This being the case, then Zechariah’s reference to the Feast of Tabernacles during the Millennium is not based on remembering the Exodus from Egypt.  Rather, it will be based on remembering the Greater Second Exodus…

… where “the Remnant of Israel” are predicted to once again live in tabernacles while in Elohim’s Place of Refuge during the Greater Second Exodus.

TENTS ONCE AGAIN

And I am יהוה your Eloheka since the land of Egypt, again will I make you live in tabernacles as in the days of the appointed feast. (Hosea 12:9 KJVm)

A REHEARSAL

So, “the Remnant” should be keeping Feast of Tabernacles not to just reminisce about the past.  Rather we should be keeping the Feast as a one week rehearsal in preparation for the 3 1/2 years that “the Remnant” will be in Elohim’s divine Place of Refuge.

Then the woman fled into the wilderness where she had a place prepared by Elohim, so that there she would be nourished for 1260 days. (Revelation 12:6 KJVm)
